What does my child learn in Tackers 1 (Having Fun)?

Tackers 1 is the beginner level: a recommended 20 hours for children who are water confident and aged 7 to 12. It teaches sailing basics through games on and off the water. By the end, children should be able to:
- steer with a tiller extension
- tie a figure 8 knot
- tack (push turn) and gybe (pull turn)
- reach around a figure-of-8 course
- sail with a tiller extension
- sail upwind and downwind by following the safety boat
Children receive a Tackers 1 completion certificate.
