The ACA National Competition Rules 2026-27 equipment table (ski length, radius and waist width) starts at U14, so it lists no ski length limits for U12. Alpine Ontario's U12 program page tells athletes to follow the ACA National Rules and its equipment guidelines, and says GoPro mounts and other modifications are not permitted, speed suits are allowed and 1-2 pairs of skis are recommended.
Alpine Canada's Learn to Train equipment guide recommends:
- Skis: one pair of giant slalom sidecut skis and one pair of slalom sidecut skis, plus an all-mountain ski that is not twin-tipped for free skiing. Choose length by ability first, then weight and strength. Keep edges sharp, bases waxed and bindings correctly adjusted.
- Boots: a four-buckle front-buckling boot, softer for less experienced skiers, that lets the child flex at the ankle without being too tight.
- Poles: with the pole upside down and the grip on the floor, the elbow should be at 90 degrees.
- Goggles: double-lens, fitting comfortably with the helmet.
- Race suit: padded arms and legs, anatomical fit, front stretch zipper.
