1. Boarding (Rule 7-18-1). The word "violently" was removed. Boarding can now be called as a minor penalty. Throwing an opponent violently into the boards is still a major. The misconduct and disqualification penalties for flagrant or head-first boarding (7-18-2) are unchanged.
2. Goalie equipment (Rule 3-3-5). "Catching" glove and "blocker" were added. If either comes off, play stops immediately.
3. Face-off location (new Rule 9-1-12, state option). If a state association adopts it, the non-offending team may choose the face-off location after an icing or a penalty.
4. Jerseys (Rule 2-1-2c, all NFHS sports). Uniforms may show the school's name, nickname, logo and mascot, and the player's name.
From 2025-26 (still in force):
- No player or goalie may wear an audio (microphone) or video (camera) device, and electronic devices may not be used by team personnel or spectators to communicate with players during play (3-8).
- A puck on the outside of the goal netting below the crossbar is in play. A puck resting on top of the netting is unplayable and stops play (9-8-4).
- "Linesman" is now "linesperson."
