Clothing (GCR 171):
- Orange is recommended (for example Pantone 151C). Anything worn with it, such as jeans, must not clash with any flag colour used on the circuit.
- Clothing should mainly be natural fibre such as cotton, with a high degree of fire retardance.
- Raincoats should also be orange.
MSA's Guide to Volunteering suggests bringing, for all weather:
- sunglasses or safety glasses with plastic lenses, sunscreen and a hat;
- long sleeves and long trousers if you are not in overalls;
- waterproof footwear, ideally comfortable leather boots (nylon can melt in a fire);
- leather gloves for trackside marshals;
- a rain jacket, waterproof gloves, spare socks and shirt, a small towel;
- task-specific gear such as balaclavas for fire marshals;
- extra water and food, a small stool and a refuse bag for your kit.
