- Marshals
- Minimum age 16. No official, including a marshal, may be under 16 (GCRs 143 and 171). Marshals under 18 are Junior Marshals until their 18th birthday.
- Licence: you need a current MSA Official's Licence to officiate at any MSA-sanctioned event. MSA's Guide to Volunteering says your licence, together with signing on at the event, is what gives you insurance cover while volunteering. You apply on MSA's official application form.
- Club membership is not required, but joining a club or officials' association is highly recommended for training and event news.
- No experience? New marshals start at Grade 0 with an MSA-approved basic induction course (GCR 171). Some officiating roles also require passing an online exam.
