What exactly is my job as a referee in a Year 3 game?

You and your partner run the game on the court. Together you:

start the game with a jump ball and keep track of the possession arrow
call violations (travels, double dribbles, out of bounds, three seconds) and fouls
signal every call clearly so players, coaches and the scorer's table know what happened
report fouls and scores to the scorer's table
grant time-outs and substitutions at the right moments
keep the game safe, stopping play for injuries, blood or anything dangerous.

Year 3 players are 8 or 9 years old and still learning the game. Your job is to keep it fair and safe, and to help them learn the rules, not to catch them out.
