How many fouls can a player or team have?

- Player: a player who commits five fouls (personal, technical and unsportsmanlike fouls all count) has fouled out. They must leave the game and can't come back on. The scorer's table will tell you, usually by sounding the buzzer or signalling you at the next dead ball.
- Team: team fouls are counted each period. After a team has four, every further defensive foul gives the other team two free throws.
Two unsportsmanlike fouls, or two technical fouls, or one of each, disqualify a player from the game. Fighting or abusing anyone disqualifies them straight away. This is rare in Year 3; if it happens, get the court controller.
