Under the FIG Women's Artistic Code of Points 2025-2028:
- A fall is a 1.00 deduction on the E-score (falls on the mat to knees or hips, falls on or against the apparatus, support on the mat or apparatus with one or both hands, and failing to land feet first).
- After a fall from the uneven bars, the gymnast may rest for up to 30 seconds; after a fall from the beam, up to 10 seconds, without deduction. Timing starts when she is back on her feet.
- During that time she may re-chalk, recover and confer with her coach, then remount.
- She must not deliberately stay off her feet to avoid the fall time starting.
Falls also affect the D-score: a connection performed with a fall earns no connection value (and no series bonus on beam), and a dismount performed with a fall earns no dismount bonus.
