The 2026 handbook says each team (home and away) must appoint ground marshals in line with the minimum for the competition fixture. Minimums (home team / away team):
- NPLM Senior: 6 / 2
- NPLW Senior and U20s: 4 / 2
- VPLM 1 and 2 Seniors: 4 / 2
- VPLW Seniors: 2 / 2
- VPLW Reserves: 2 / 2
- NPLM Under 20s and 23s: 2 / 2
- VPLM 1 and 2 Under 20s and 23s: 2 / 2
- Advanced Junior Boys (BVYPL and BVYSL): 2 / 2
- Girls Victorian Youth Premier League: 1 / 1
- SLM1, SLM2, SLM3: 2 / 2
- SLM4, SLM5, SLM6, SLM7: 1 / 1
- State League Women's 1 to 8: 1 / 1
- Men's and Women's Metropolitan Leagues and Masters Leagues: 1 / 1
- Regional Senior Competitions: 1 / 1
- Metropolitan and Regional Junior Competitions: 1 / 1
- All other competitions: 1 / 1
The handbook also says a home club should appoint a relevant number of ground marshals, proportionate to attendance.
