From the 2026 handbook:
- The ground marshal is the only person permitted to approach the referees.
- Always escort the referee from the referee room, pavilion or clubrooms to the field, including before the match, at half time and after the match.
- While escorting, do not give feedback on the referee's performance.
- The home marshal introduces themselves to the referee of the allocated field and explains where the field, referee rooms, toilets, canteen and changerooms are.
- On arrival, meet the referees and show them to their change room and the field of play (listed under the extra pre-match checks for U12 to U18 and Seniors).
- Keep the code of conduct sign in position in a highly visible area at all times.
