The referee must not allow anyone other than the players and authorised team support officials onto the playing area without permission, and anyone who makes an unauthorised entry is in breach of league rules and codes of conduct.
Under NSWRL Policy 5.4 (Tough Love in League, Under 13s to Open Age):
- A spectator who enters the playing area or field of play with intent, or without the permission of the ground manager, is automatically banned from attending Community Rugby League matches for a minimum of 12 months.
- The league reserves the right to suspend any children or siblings of the parent or family involved from playing in NSWRL-related competitions if the spectator breaches the ban. A bond or fine may be set before the spectator can attend matches again.
The ground manager should record the identity of anyone who enters the field in the incident report (due before 4.00pm on the Tuesday after the match).
