The key tasks in NSWRL Policy 4.15 are:
Before and at kick-off
- Wear the NSWRL Ground Manager Vest at all times while on duty, and do not enter the field of play without it.
- Check the playing field and surrounds for safety.
- Check accreditations and player identification during game day duties.
- Do not allow a game to start without the necessary team staff in attendance, including the required sports trainers.
- Have a list of local hospital emergency departments, local doctors or medical centres available to assess injured players.
During the match
- Do everything possible to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons at the venue.
- Be visible and alert, and aware of activity inside the spectator fence or rope.
- Make sure any player removed from the field with a suspected head injury or concussion is marked HIA next to their name on the sign on sheet.
- Terminate or stop play through the referee where safety or security demands it.
After the match
- Evaluate incidents and report rule breaches to the League Administrator without delay.
- Submit the incident report before 4.00pm on the Tuesday following the incident.
- Attend meetings and co-operate with the district or regional league manager, and observe and report any exceptions to crowd and ground control requirements.
You are not expected to witness every breach at busy venues, but you are encouraged to have a general overview of most club activity on the home ground.
