Who are the match officials at a PSL match, and who appoints them?

Under NSL Handbook Rule 20, every Betway Premiership and Motsepe Foundation Championship match has:
- a referee
- two assistant referees
- a fourth official
The referees and assistant referees are appointed from the League panel by SAFA. SAFA also appoints a match commissioner (Rule 21), who is not connected with any club, acts for the League on compliance with the Handbook, inspects the facilities, chairs the pre-match meeting and reports on the match.
All matches are played under the IFAB Laws of the Game (Rule 11). The 2026/27 Laws apply this season.
