Under Law 7.3, the fourth official shows the minimum additional time decided by the referee at the end of the final minute of each half (and of each half of extra time). The referee may increase it but not reduce it.
The referee allows for time lost through:
- substitutions
- assessing and removing injured players
- time-wasting
- disciplinary sanctions
- drinks or cooling breaks permitted by competition rules
- VAR checks and reviews (where VAR is used)
- goal celebrations
- any other cause, including significant delays to a restart
The referee is the sole judge of time in PSL matches, which are 2 x 45 minutes with a 15-minute half-time interval (NSL Handbook Rule 13).
