Under the NSL Handbook, the PSL (the National Soccer League) has two divisions: the Premier Division, played as the Betway Premiership, and the National First Division, played as the Motsepe Foundation Championship (Rule 3).
- The Premiership has 16 clubs (Rule 4.1).
- It is a double round, home and away (Rule 8.1), so each club plays 30 league matches.
- 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss.
- The club with the most points wins the Premier League trophy and 35 gold medals (Rule 6.1).
Fixtures, kick-off times and venues are set by the League (Rule 9.3). All matches are played under the IFAB Laws of the Game (Rule 11).
