Under the 2026 WTA Rulebook, all WTA 1000, WTA 500 and WTA 250 tournaments, on any surface, must use a WTA-approved live electronic line calling (Live ELC) system. It must be available on all match courts from the first day of qualifying until the end of the tournament.
- Live ELC makes the "out" calls itself, through an audio system connected to the court, without players needing to challenge.
- Each court must have a scoreboard and videoboard where the chair umpire, players and spectators can see the score and close call replays.
- A certified review official approved by WTA Officiating monitors the system. If it fails or its ability to make a call is in question, the chair umpire tells both players that Live ELC is unavailable until further notice and play is suspended.
