Skate Canada uses the Cumulative Points Calculation (CPC) judging system. A performance is divided into elements and program components, each evaluated individually, and the totals form the skater's score. The highest score wins, the second highest places second, and so on.
For each segment (short program or free skate), the score is:
Total Element Score + Program Component score (each component multiplied by its factor) + any bonuses − any deductions
- Total Element Score: the sum of every element's Base Value plus the panel's Grade of Execution (GOE).
- Program Component score: the three program components (Composition, Presentation, Skating Skills), each factored and added.
- Junior and Senior factors for each component: short program 1.33 for Women and Pairs and 1.67 for Men; free skate 2.67 for Women and Pairs and 3.33 for Men.
- Deductions: falls, time violations, illegal elements and others.
