SASREA builds disability access into stadium standards and event planning:
- Stadium and venue standards (s8(2)): the safety criteria the Minister of Sport can set for stadiums and venues must include adequate safe access and sufficient facilities for persons with disabilities.
- Event planning (s16(1)(d)): for medium- and high-risk events, the SAPS-led event safety and security planning committee must set measures for adequate access and accommodation for persons with disabilities.
- On the day (s23): that committee must make sure prescribed measures for access and safety for persons with disabilities are in place, alongside safety, security, medical, and emergency services.
- Evacuation (s4(4)(b)): stewards must help people with emergency evacuation procedures in the stadium or venue and its precincts.
