Under new FIBA rules announced on 3 September 2026 and applying from NBL27 (starting at the NBL Blitz), unsportsmanlike fouls are replaced by two categories:
- Disruptive fouls: less severe acts, such as deliberately stopping a transition without a legitimate play on the ball. They do not count toward an automatic ejection.
- Flagrant fouls: serious, reckless, dangerous or excessive contact. They count toward an ejection.
