Each match has a "Session" that starts at the scheduled start time and ends two hours later.
- If the match can be completed within the Session, it is completed (and a shoot-out is held if one is needed).
- If it cannot be completed but the first half can, it is played to the end of the second quarter and then abandoned.
- Otherwise it is cancelled or abandoned. A shoot-out is held only if it can start within the Session.
- The Executive Manager can decide to reschedule or continue a match outside its Session after considering things like venue availability, team and official availability, safety, competition integrity and cost.
Results: if a Home and Away Round match is abandoned before the end of the second quarter, or cancelled, the result is a 0-0 draw with points under the points system, and no shoot-out bonus point is awarded if no shoot-out could be completed. If it is abandoned after the second quarter, the score at that point stands. In a Finals match, if the result is a draw and no shoot-out could decide it, the higher ranked team is deemed the winner.
