What does the CFL Replay Centre review automatically?

Under the 2026 Official Playing Rules, the Replay Centre automatically reviews these plays in real time, and pauses the game if there is an element in question:

• a play where any score has been ruled on the field
• a play where a potential score occurred but was not ruled, for example a ball carrier ruled out of bounds near the goal line, or an incomplete pass ruling at the back of the end zone
• a turnover on downs, fumble lost or interception ruled on the field

2026 change: turnover on downs was added to the list of automatically reviewed plays.

When the game is paused for an auto-review, the standard list of reviewable aspects is checked for that play. The average delay is less than a minute for the decision, plus time for broadcast synchronization and communication. The large majority of auto-review situations occur without the game being paused.
