FVS is new in 2026. It does not use dedicated video match officials and does not automatically check every match-changing incident.
- The head coach asks for a review by making a finger-twirling motion in the air and handing a request review card to the fourth official immediately after the incident. The head referee then goes to the field-side review area to watch replays.
- Coaches can ask for a check when they believe there was a clear and obvious error in a match-changing incident such as goal/no goal, penalty/no penalty, direct red cards or mistaken identity.
- Each team gets two review requests per match, plus one more if the match goes to extra time. If the call is overturned, the team keeps its request and the card is returned. If the original decision stands, the team loses that request.
- The fourth official also reviews every goal scored, and every goal the head referee disallows, for a clear and obvious offence by the attacking team. If a coach disagrees with the fourth official's assessment, he can still request a review.
