Under regulation 19 of the Boxing Regulations: The promoter and boxers agree the number of rounds, subject to Boxing SA approval, but no fight may exceed 12 rounds. Rounds are a maximum of 3 minutes for men and 2 minutes for women, with 1 minute's rest between rounds (boxers stay in the ring). Time lost when the referee stops the action doesn't count towards the round.
