A player who accumulates yellow cards in the regular season must serve a mandatory suspension:
- 5 yellow cards within the club's first 17 A-League Women matches of the regular season: a one-match suspension.
- 8 yellow cards in the regular season (whether or not the 5-card suspension was served): a one-match suspension. For every three (3) yellow cards after that, a further one-match suspension.
Team officials (such as coaches) follow the same thresholds for their own yellow cards. Someone registered as both a player and a team official has their yellow cards counted together under the same thresholds.
