- RowSA Rules of Racing 2020
- Schools rowing
- U14-Open
- 2025/26
- Coxswains
SASRU rule for school regattas: you may cox crews in your own age group or higher, but not lower. For example, an U16 cox may cox U16 or Open crews, but not U15 or U14.
Exception for novice U14 crews: for safety, an older, experienced cox may cox a novice U14 crew during the September to February part of the season. This does not apply at the SA Schools Rowing Championships.
School age groups are U14, U15, U16 and Open. Your age group is set at the start of the season in September and doesn't change in January.
Birth years for the 2025/26 SA Schools Championships:
| Age group | Born in |
|---|---|
| U14 | 2012 or later |
| U15 | 2011 or later |
| U16 | 2010 or later |
| Open | Grade 12 born 2008 or later, or any other registered rower born 2009 or later |
The SASRU rules take precedence over the general RowSA Rules of Racing at school regattas. The RowSA rules (which let a cox be up to two age categories younger than the crew) apply outside schools rowing.
