What do I need to complete before I can coach a 14U team?

USA Hockey requires both registration and certification.

Before any team activity (and before you can be added to a roster):

1. Register as a USA Hockey member (every season).
2. Background screening: you can't coach until it has cleared and you've been notified.
3. USA Hockey SafeSport Training: required every year.
4. The online age-specific module for the level you coach. You only need it once per age level.

By December 31 of the season:
5. Attend a Coaching Education Program (CEP) certification clinic. New coaches at 10U and above enter at Level 1. Clinics run June 15 to December 15, and you can attend only one per season.

You'll complete all of this through your profile in the USA Hockey Learning Center. Your CEP card number, level and year attained go on every game scoresheet.
