UKHSA's guidance for children in hot weather:
- Make water available and encourage children to drink more than usual.
- Encourage them to eat normally and drink plenty of water.
- Watch for dehydration and for signs of heat stress, such as out-of-character behaviour, discomfort or irritability.
UKHSA doesn't set a specific amount or a drinks-break schedule. Your sport's governing body or competition may set its own rules on drinks breaks in hot weather.
