One age group up, under UKA Rule TR3 S2:
| Athlete | May compete against | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Under 14 | Under 16 | Track: still bound by U14 limits (nothing over a mile, no 300m/400m, one race 600m-mile per day) and any standards the organiser sets. Field: throws must use Under 16 implements |
| Under 16 | Under 18 | Track: still bound by U16 limits (nothing over 3000m). Field: throws must use Under 18 implements |
| Under 18 | Older athletes, including graded competitions | Never in a track event over 5000m |
| Under 20 | Seniors in open track events (up to 10,000m) and field events, including national and county championships | Senior implements in field events |
Apart from Open Graded competitions, Under 14s and Under 16s can't enter competitions for any older age group than the one above. In graded meetings, younger athletes may race older ones only where the conditions don't break the distance or event limits.
Where field events for different age groups run at the same time on the same site but are clearly separate competitions in the timetable, these mixing rules don't apply.
