The Tennis Professionals Association (TPA) offers three course tracks on the Tennis Canada coaching certification pathway:
- Recreational: Community Tennis Volunteer (not a certification) and Instructor (the first certification step, for starter players).
- Club Professional: Club Professional 1, 2 and 3 (CP1, CP2, CP3), covering lessons, junior development and club management.
- Performance: Coach 2, Coach 3 and Coach 4, covering performance coaching. Coach 5 appears in the certification expiry list.
Tennis Canada describes the Instructor course as step one of the coaching journey. It has no prior certification or experience requirement. Prerequisites above it: CP1 needs Instructor; CP2 needs CP1; CP3 needs CP2; Coach 2 needs CP2 or recognition of coaching competence; Coach 3 needs Coach 2 or recognition; Coach 4 needs Coach 3. Quebec residents are directed to Tennis Quebec for registration.
