NFHS concussion guidance:
- Any athlete who shows signs, symptoms or behaviors consistent with a concussion must be removed immediately from activity.
- The athlete may not return until cleared by an appropriate health-care professional.
- The NFHS suggested guidelines say no return to play or practice on the same day as a concussion.
Return-to-play protocols and who can give clearance are set by state law and your state association, and some states are stricter than the NFHS guidance.
