What are the junior age divisions for 2026-27, and how is age calculated?

Birth years for the 2026/27 season:
- U8: born 2020 and later
- U10: born 2018 and 2019
- U12: born 2016 and 2017
- U14: born 2014 and 2015
- U16 (Juvenile): born 2012 and 2013
- U18 (Cadet): born 2010, 2011 and 2012
- U21 (Junior): born 2007 to 2012
- Senior: born 2012 and earlier
How age is calculated: following the IJF regulations, age is the age as of December 31. For events held in Canada from September to December, age is calculated as of December 31 of the second calendar year of the season. For the season starting September 1, 2026, that is December 31, 2027.
Early bloomers: judoka one year younger than the division (U14: born 2016; U16: born 2014; U18: born 2013) can be approved by Judo Canada under the Early Bloomer clause.
