Under the Hockey Canada By-Laws, Regulations and History (2026-27 season), Regulation E:
- U11 teams are issued a Player registration allotment of a maximum of 20 registrants.
- A minor hockey team (all levels) may not have more than 20 players on its roster at any one time. A Member may allow a Hockey Canada Accredited School Team up to 22 players if it has no lower-division school team to affiliate with.
- Rosters in the Hockey Canada Registry must meet the roster limits by 5:00:00 pm MST on January 10. A team that misses the deadline is ineligible for further competition until it complies, and non-compliance results in all players being declared released from the team under the Member's authority.
- A team with the maximum number of registered players on January 10 cannot register more players that season. A team with fewer can register eligible players, if it has unused registrations, until the Final Registration Date. A vacancy that has been filled cannot be used again.
- Players released after January 10 are ineligible to play with any other Hockey Canada or USA Hockey team that season, and the released player cannot be replaced.
