From GSA "Safeguarding training for coaches, Information 2026":
- Safeguarding training is compulsory for all adults in frequent contact with children, young adults and vulnerable people with special needs.
- The required course for coaches is Course 2: Safeguarding Practice, a free online course from The Open University (OpenLearn Create) endorsed by GSA. (Course 1 is for volunteers and judges; Course 3 for safeguarding officers.)
- The certificate is required to register as a member and is a prerequisite for Level 1 coach training. New coaches submit it with their Gymnastics Leader Course assessments.
- Verification: send your digital badge to your club leader or admin, who uploads it to your coach subfolder in the club's GSA folder (named with your ID). The club can then download GSA's certificate of compliance. GSA only accepts the certificate once this is done.
- Under a regulation approved in 2025, safeguarding certificates are valid for four years.
