Heat exhaustion: move the person to a cool place and give them liquids, with water being best.
Heat stroke is a medical emergency. Health Canada says to call 911 or your local emergency number immediately. While waiting for help:
- Move the person to a cool place if possible.
- Apply cold water to large areas of skin, or directly to skin or clothing.
- Fan the person as much as possible.
Never leave people or pets in a parked vehicle or in direct sunlight.
