Canada Basketball's screening addresses risk through an Enhanced Police Information Check (E-PIC), a Vulnerable Sector Verification (VSV) and a Driver's Abstract.
- E-PICs and VSVs are valid for three years.
- Screening Disclosure Forms must be completed every year.
- E-PICs and VSVs are obtained through Sterling Talent Solutions at mybackcheck.com.
- Results are submitted to Canada Basketball based on the person's role and risk level, from low to high.
- Coaches must complete the screening checks, and also the NCCP Make Ethical Decisions (MED) training within their NCCP pathway.
Canada Basketball says its Members and affiliated clubs share responsibility for a safe environment, and that requiring valid police record checks and other appropriate background checks is part of that duty.
