Canada Basketball adopted the Canadian Safe Sport Program (CSSP), effective 1 April 2025. Under the CSSP Rules, the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) independently administers the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS) for federally funded national-level sport organizations, including receiving and responding to reports.
- Online: cces.ca/report-safe-sport
- Phone: 1-866-971-2777
- Both methods allow you to report anonymously. If you share your name, the CCES will not pass it to the sport organization unless needed to keep someone safe, and will try to get your consent first.
The UCCMS covers athletes, coaches, officials, administrators and practitioners, and defines maltreatment as volitional acts that result in harm or the potential for physical or psychological harm. Canada Basketball's page says concerns about provincial team or club activity should go to the relevant provincial organization. Complaints for National Team and Canada Basketball activities are managed by an Independent Third-Party Safe Sport Officer (ITP Sport), who aims to respond within 24 hours.
Canada Basketball recommends the Coaching Association of Canada's free 90-minute Safe Sport Training through The Locker; certified coaches earn 2 professional development points for it.
