BC Hockey requires a criminal record check (CRC) for employees and volunteers in BC Hockey positions, including directors, on initial appointment or on reaching the age of 18. Volunteers, including coaches, must renew every three years (current BC Hockey directors and employees every five).
How to apply, at https://www.bchockey.net/member-info/applications/criminal-record-check:
- Apply online through the BC government eCRC site, using BC Hockey's access code listed on that page.
- Your identity is verified with a BC Services Card. First-time users activate it by video or in person through Service BC (free).
- If ID verification is requested, email scans or photos of two government-issued IDs plus your session ID to crc@bchockey.net. BC Hockey forwards them and issues an interim CRC approval, which allows clinic registration.
- If fingerprinting is requested, do it as soon as possible at your local police detachment and email the confirmation to crc@bchockey.net. A fee may apply depending on the station; to ask for a waiver, email info@bchockey.net for a reference letter identifying you as a BC Hockey volunteer.
