- Club Safeguarding Officers
The ECB requires Club Safeguarding Officers to:
- be over 18;
- hold a current ECB Enhanced DBS check, kept current by the annual recheck (the role is Regulated Activity);
- complete Safeguarding Level 2 (SGL2), a 1-hour online course;
- attend a Safe Hands workshop (Level 3), a 3-hour face-to-face workshop run by the County Cricket Board and delivered by ECB-trained tutors;
- renew both courses every 3 years.
Contact your County Cricket Board to book courses. If you hold an active accreditation from the older Safeguarding for Specialist Roles (SSR) course, you don't need to do SGL2 until your re-accreditation window opens.
Clubs must appoint you through a safer recruitment process, including references and ECB vetting. The ECB recommends displaying your training certificates and contact details publicly at the club.
