The ECB has removed its changing room guidance from the Safe Hands Kit Bag while it waits for updated guidance from the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), whose interim guidance of April 2025 has been withdrawn. The ECB says it will update its guidance in due course.
In the meantime, the ECB says:
- clubs should support transgender and non-binary participants in agreeing an appropriate approach to accessing changing rooms;
- clubs should consider reasonable adjustments, such as alternative or individual gender-neutral facilities.
Separately, the ECB Recreational Cricket Safety Regulations still require clubs to have a plan or suitable facilities so that a junior playing in open age cricket is not required to change or shower alongside adults, and to give particular attention to appropriate changing facilities before a girl plays in boys' or open age cricket.
