What must be in place before a junior player is registered and eligible to play?
Rule- Western Australia
- WA Football
- Junior football
- Years 3-6
- Modified competitions
- PlayHQ
- 2026
- Club registrars
Under section 3 of the 2026 handbook:
- No player may take part in any official match until an online registration form is completed and approved in PlayHQ, and the player appears as "active".
- Players must not falsify their name or date of birth.
- A player may hold only one registration in the system.
- Proof of age documentation is required for all players new to junior football.
- Registered players should hold their primary registration with a club that has teams in a junior competition (WAFL and WAFLW club-listed players are the exception: Colts list max 55 players, Rogers Cup list max 40).
- No junior player may receive cash, cheques or money as payment, incentive or reward for playing. Vouchers from a sponsor or the canteen are preferred.
- WA Football uses the AFL Gender Diversity Policy if a trans, non-binary or other gender identity matter is raised.
- Team managers must check every player is registered, active, holds a current permit if needed, and is not suspended; playing an ineligible player forfeits the match.
The Junior Football competition rules also say clubs must enter match results into PlayHQ promptly after each match.
