- 2026

Under regulations 2 and 3 of the Boxing Regulations (made under the South African Boxing Act, 2001):
- Apply to Boxing SA on the prescribed forms, and renew every year. Your certificate of registration (licence) is valid throughout South Africa.
- Age on first registration: older than 18 and younger than 35. If you haven't boxed for a continuous 12 months or more, your application counts as a first registration again.
- Submit your boxing history in writing with supporting evidence.
- If asked, report to a gym chosen by Boxing SA to have your boxing ability tested.
- Pass the required medical examination at your own cost.
- You may use a ring name only with Boxing SA's approval.
- You may be registered in only one capacity at a time (for example, not as both boxer and promoter), and must follow Boxing SA's code of conduct.
Applying: licence applications are made online on the Boxing SA website during the licensing window it announces each year (for 2025/26 the window ran 3 to 31 March 2025), with the fee for your category paid through the licensing system. The Boxing SA Board decides applications; late ones go to a later board meeting.
