Your age group is based on your age on December 31 of the year of the race, not your age on race day (Appendix C.5.1). Categories are in five-year bands for women, men and non-binary athletes:
15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99, and 100+.
Other options a race may offer:
- Open: anyone may enter, and Open athletes are eligible for overall awards. If you race Open, you can't also compete in any other category.
- Clydesdale / Athena weight classes, and adaptive (AT) categories.
- Youth: athletes aged 6 to 14 may be categorized in age-group races.
- Recreational (non-competitive) waves: eligible for participation awards, but not for any placing or rankings.
