A valid National Classification is required if you want to:
- Compete as a Para athlete at national-level events, including Canadian Championships and the Canada Summer Games 2029
- Compete in USTFA meets (international events such as WPA Grand Prix or Championships need international classification)
- Have your performances captured on the National Para Rankings
- Be eligible to set Canadian Para Records
- Be eligible for selection to the Talent Confirmation level of the Canadian Athletics Performance Program (CAPP)
Athletics Canada's classification page says classification (provisional, national or international) is not required to join clubs or to compete regionally, provincially or in school systems.
