Arctic Sports and Dene Games are the only Arctic Winter Games athletic events with adult categories, which the Games website says reflects the importance of positive mentorship within Indigenous cultures. Arctic Sports are traditional games that, since time immemorial, have been part of life for Inuit peoples across a vast area from Alaska to Greenland, used to develop abilities such as balance, flexibility, strength and pain tolerance.
For 2026 the Arctic Sports competition ran Monday, March 9 to Friday, March 13, 2026, at St. Francis of Assisi Secondary School in Whitehorse.
